ABOUT

ABOUT ME

I am proud to have a diverse background in service and community oriented professions.

In 1990, I joined the US Army and trained as a mobile communications operator. As an E4 Corporal, I was assigned to an E6 Staff Sergeant Training Sergeant Position with my unit in Germany and reported directly to my Company First Sergeant where I assisted in facilitating unit training programs.

In 1997, while stationed in San Antonio, I attended the UT System Police Academy and became an Officer with the UT San Antonio Police Department. I spent several years as a Certified Crime Prevention Specialist, acting as a community liaison to student groups, Greek Life, campus coalitions, and other community service programs.

In 2010, I left law enforcement and returned to UTSA to earn my Bachelors Degree in English (with Honors) and Teaching Certification.

Shortly after my student teaching semester at Taft HS (Northside ISD) in 2013, I was asked to join their faculty where I taught English I, English I Pre-AP, GT Leadership, Speech, and Independent Study Mentorship. I was also involved as a Sponsor/Advisor for Student Council, Academic Decathlon, and the P7 Bible Club.

In 2018, I transferred to Boerne ISD and Champion High School where I continued with English I and English I Honors, then added English II Honors, Student Leadership, Independent Study Mentorship, and AP Research, as well as sponsoring Student Council and the Alzheimer's Awareness Club. In 2024, I was selected as the Champion HS Teacher of the Year and the Boerne ISD Teacher of the Year.

Throughout all these careers, I found my greatest joy has been seeing young men and women challenge themselves and succeed--whether on the PT or weapons qualification courses, making positive life-choices at college, or achieving in academics, leadership, sports, fine arts, UIL, or other extra-curricular activities at school and in the community.

My personal philosophy has always been that if I could make a single, positive impact on just one person, in one small way, whether I knew it or not, then I have had a successful day.
